Summary of the play "Jokes in the Wilderness":

Night, February, snowstorm. A resident of the rural hinterland Sanka (57 years old) decides to play along with his relatives who came from the city for his funeral - and lies down in a coffin, pretending to be dead. He wants to take advantage of the opportunity and see how much his wife will grieve, in whose love he has never been sure in his entire life.

At first, everything goes well - he is really taken for a dead man, but all plans collapse when the most famous actor, the legend of Russian cinema Samson Struchkov, stops for the night, or rather, a man who is the spitting image of the screen star, and whom everyone enthusiastically takes for Struchkov and begins to treat, and to whom even the dead man Sanka begins to be jealous, because everyone forgets about the dead man - such is the magic power of cinema. The dead man disappears from the coffin, the snowstorm ends, but begins...
